Protesters in the Egyptian capital of Cairo who lost their lives in the recent struggle to oust President Hosni Mubarak from power will have streets renamed in their honor. The Egyptian Revolution, which began on January 25th, 2011, featured several demonstrations, marches, and violent confrontations between protesters and supporters of President Mubarak. Finally, on the 11th of February the president resigned from office.

Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq has ordered provincial governors to rename the streets where the protest “martyrs” had lived. A memorial in Tahrir Square has also been made by the demonstrators in honor of those who died during the protests.
